Jon Payne
Jon joined in January 2005 having previously been called to the Bar in 2003. He has over 17 years experience of local authority matters. Based in the Thames Valley, he practices throughout the country.
His professional memberships include the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the Institute of Licensing. He is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Health and a member of Grays Inn. He was instrumental in setting up and operating initatives such as the Southern Health and Safety Liaison group and was the Secretary of one of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Centres, a Best Bar None assessor and a founding member of the Southern HSE-LA Group. He has advised government on a variety of matters, including licensing and mobile home sites.
Jon's main work areas include;
- Preparing and submitting Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005 applications, representing businesses and individuals on application or review hearings,
- Advising and training local authorities, practioners and the trade on Licensing and Gambling matters
- Providing representation at hearings related to -

- Fire Safety,
- Housing,

Environmental protection, including nuisance proceedings.
He lectures widely on licensing and safety matters, both to the trade and to fellow professionals, local authorities and enforcement officers, using his extensive technical as well as legal knowledge of these subjects. His clients include large organisations such as the National Trust as well as smaller businesses and various local authorities.
